GROVE SQUARE, MINTUS PROPERTY
From 4.5 Stars To A Signed Government Tenancy
Solar, waste, HVAC and emissions upgrades that took Grove Square to a certified 5.5 Star NABERS rating, and released the tenancy that required it.
The Challenge
A government tenancy at Grove Square hinged on one number. At 4.5 stars, the building's NABERS rating fell short of the tenant's mandate; Mintus needed 5.5, which meant a step change in energy performance and sustainability credentials, delivered to certification standard, and a rating is only as good as the evidence behind it.
The Solution
SEE Sustainability Group delivered the whole pathway as one program. Solar Energy Enterprises built the on-site generation, SEE Carbon Zero mapped and delivered the efficiency, waste and emissions work across HVAC, lighting and recycling, and the certification followed: 5.5 Star NABERS and Climate Active Carbon Neutral, both certified. Along the way, more than $30,000 in net zero grants and $10,000 in waste hardware funding sharpened the return. The rating released the tenancy, and the tenancy is what a rating is actually worth.
