About Towradgi Beach Hotel

A constant thrive of activity, Towradgi Beach Hotel (TBH) is renowned for its delicious beachside burgers, grills, and cocktails. A premier destination on the south coast for decades, TBH offers guests a premier hotel, beer garden, live bands, and a dedicated playground for kids.

The Challenge: Towradgi Beach Hotel

Towradgi Beach Hotel (TBH) aimed to reduce its carbon footprint and demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability by investing in solar energy. Simultaneously, the hotel sought to diminish its reliance on grid electricity, leading to a direct reduction in energy costs.

The Solution: Towradgi Beach Hotel

Towradgi Beach Hotel (TBH) partnered with Solar Energy Enterprises, thanks to our proven track record in implementing large-scale solar systems. Commencing with an exhaustive energy audit, we delved into the intricacies of TBH’s energy consumption patterns, identifying peak usage times and pinpointing areas for improvement.

Subsequently, we meticulously designed a customised solar system tailored to meet the unique needs of TBH. This comprehensive design incorporates strategically placed solar panels, accounting for factors such as sunlight exposure and available space.

Panels

The panels selected for the TBH installation were a combination of Canadian Solar HiKu panels (CS3N-405MS (IEC1500V)) and Trina Solar Vertex S panels (TSM-400DE09.08).

A solar breakthrough with 24% higher power output than conventional modules, Canadian Solar HiKu panels boast a low NMOT of 42 ± 3 °C and a temperature coefficient (Pmax) of -0.36% / °C, ensuring top-tier performance in diverse conditions. The HiKu stands out with up to 4.5% lower LCOE and up to 2.7% lower system costs, making it a cost-effective and reliable choice.

Vertex S by Trina Solar are a Mono Multi Solution module offering a power range of 390-405W and an impressive 21.1% maximum efficiency. Compact yet powerful, the panels utilise high-density interconnect technology, multi-busbar technology, and a lower temperature coefficient (-0.34%) for optimal performance in limited spaces and warm conditions.

Inverter

At TBH, SEE installed a combination of Sungrow SG110CX inverter and then Sungrow SG30CX inverter. A high-yield and reliable solution for solar energy systems, Sungrow inverters offer a max efficiency of at least 98.6%, and smart O&M with touch-free commissioning, remote upgrades, and online diagnostics. Proven safety features like IP66/C5 protection and Type II SPD for DC and AC make it compliant with global standards.

The Results: Towradgi Beach Hotel

The results of installing solar at the Towradgi Beach Hotel (TBH) have been both instant and impressive.

  1. Immediate Cost Savings: The implementation of solar energy systems led to immediate cost savings, with annual electricity cost reductions of $33,437.
  2. Impressive ROI: The return on investment (ROI) for the TBH solar projects is just 3.9 years, providing a substantial return on their initial investment.
  3. Sustainable Energy: With a CO2 reduction of 376 tonnes, this is the equivalent of planting 6,375 trees or taking 106 cars off the road for an entire year.
